Funny. The time it would take to prepare that cheat sheet is almost the same amount of time needed to study the small amount of material on the label. Most high level tests assess problem solving skills and not basic memorization. |

This is a tutorial on cheating posted on Youtube. Technology really is opening doors.

I haven't heard of that... but even if it's true, I don't think one little piece of candy is going to make our kids "obese". Get a life. |

Is it true that elementary school kids get rewarded for academic progress with candy? What about the fight against obesity? |

Andy,
Why do we continue to broadcast these stories about local schools that make them seem like they are doing so well (i.e. "Data: County students doing well on ACT scores")? It says that ACT scores are comparable to the state averages. Yes, but COMPARE THE STATE AVERAGES TO THE NATION! Kentucky averages are around the LOWEST in the country! Available here: http://www.act.org/news/data/08/states.html. I think Kentucky schools need to get real and not accept slow progression. When you are this far behind, slow progression just doesn't cut it! |

I too am disppointed in the way middle school situation was handled. Another option was to send your child to Madison Middle. However I heard that if you chose to do that, your child would not be allowed to attend Michael Caudill Middle School when completed next year. I wonder if that is true. I guess home schooling is another option for some. At least the sixth grade teachers at Clark Moores seem very nice and well qualified. Hopefully it's only one year, then the kids will have a brand new $19.7 million school. What an improvement from their current conditions. |

As a parent of a child that will be entering 6th grade this year at clarke moores middle school from marshall. I am very upset the way the marshall students have been placed in the trailers for 95% of their classes. They will only be changing classes twice from one trailer to another. The reason that this bothers me is our kids were redistricted to marshall from other schools not by choice. They had to leave their friends and this was one place where they could reunite with their friends, but again they are separated again from the other kids who will be changing classes as normal in the building. I would like to know who came up with penalizing the marshall kids. Thank god they are only going to be there one year.If the parents had a heads up about this situation they would probably would have perferred another school. |

Clark Moores Middle School really welcomed the Glen Marshall students with open arms. Stick them all in the trailers out back. Wonder why they couldn't integrate them with the other students. Seems like it would have been easier to just pull a couple trailers onto the Glen Marshall School property if they're being kept separate from all the other Clark Moores students. |

There is some "herding" instinct in numbers, but there also may be bullying and mischief--little guys waiting with senior high kids may not always be the best thing. And I can hardly vision a Berea/Southern consortium--but that's thinking Craig and I really like a man who uses that noggin. Mr Greene |

Regarding, Schools: Any comments on this? Not directly but I will say this. Some money could easily be saved by changing the way busses travel from Southern/Foley to Shannon Johnson. I had suggeseted rather than busses using Glades road, to US 25 north to Baugh street do this. Construct a road behind Southern to Shannon Johnson. That distance is only a few hundred feet. The objection was that such a road would interfere with the ball fields. Would there be any way for the County school system and Berea Community to work toather in -some- student transportation issues without encountering strange, bazar legal or liability issues? One thing positive about groups stops other than fuel savings is, safety in numbers. I would rather a child be waiting for the bus with 15 others than to be by their self. Getting to the pickup point is another matter. Craig Still |
