Bicyclists have the same right to the road as an auto. They must stay on the same side as the auto traffic. Pretty sure that's a Ky. state law. with gas staying around $3.65, look for more!

Most city / public pools don't open until 4pm and close at 7pm Monday - Friday once school goes back. Look at Lexington, they close all but the two family aquatic centers once schools go back and they even have reduced hours on the weekends. Paradise Cove is still open its regular hours Saturday and Sunday.

The festivals are great, but the traffic is HELL! That and it's a thankless, HUGE job to pull together something like a festival or Court days celebration. There is a pretty good veterans thing in the late summer-fall. Maybe you could contact someone at the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and maybe they could offer some pointers? Mr Greene

I live in the Creekside area. It's impossible to do a left turn onto Lancaster Avenue during the school year (in the mornings). Maybe we could put a stop sign up there.

Stop sign ordinance voted down
Email Article 07.22.08 07:28 PM –
RICHMOND – The Richmond City Commission unanimously voted down an ordinance Tuesday authorizing the placement of stop signs at the intersection of Gibson Bay Dr., Lake Point Dr. and Parkview Way.

Stops signs at that location were deployed last May at the behest of a local neighborhood association. However, Bill Strong questioned whether the proper proceedures were employed in placing the signs. City Attorney Garrett Fowles later informed city officials that the city does require an ordinance to place stop signs.

Kay Cosby Jones had been a proponent of the signs, noting that some people in the neighborhood had difficulty getting out of their subdivisions during peak traffic periods, particularly after ballgames.

Other officials disagreed, however, suggesting that the inconvenience to both park users and patrons of Gibson Bay Golf Course was unnecessary.

Before the vote, Mayor Connie Lawson suggested that park security officers could direct traffic at the intersection when there is an especially high density of cars, such as immediately after ballgames or special events.

When the ordinance came up for a vote, Bill Strong, Robert Blythe, Connie Lawson and Mike Brewer voted against the ordinance. Kay Cosby Jones was not at the meeting.
