My question is why can't the city of Berea along with berea College build a tunnel or over the street crosswalk? I think money is not the issue because Renfro Valley and the city of Somerset have done this, it seems to me as exactly what we need. Another question is who will be responsible for an accident if we don't build something? We all know it's just a matter of time before it happens again.

Do you think just because Berea doesn't sell alcohol in restaurants that this stops people from going 10 miles north to eat and drink? Why can the beloved Country Club sell alcohol and have a full bar (also in a pop machine)but the city can't profit from sales in a restaurant to provide money for Haz. duty and better pay? People are going to go where they can have a drink with their meal, so Berea should get that income instead of Richmond don't you think? If I was an Officer, I would sit at the exit to the Club and get several DUI's a night but would that go over with the city officials?
Answer: It seems that the assumption behind your questions is that selling alcohol in restaurants in Berea w... Read Full Answer

It seems to me that everyone has an opinion on the issue of higher pay and or Hazardous duty pay for our Police and Fire departments. This being an election year I would like to think that all persons running for positions would take into consideration of what the people want! Maybe we could get your counterparts including city council and Mr. Stone to fill in some of these positions at their pay, I wander if they would look at the pay with a different outlook. Lets take care of our city and pay these police and fire personel what they deserve!! Or we can put more money into a park system that nobody goes to any more because of who is over it! Maybe it's time we voted for change in our City offices. Thank you, Michael

There was a group of parent’s talking and the questions came up about the stadium at the City Park. When was the last time the stadium was checked for safety? Has a structural engineer given an OK for the structure? Is that report available to the public for review? What is the age of the structure? We just want to know someone can say it is safe!

Mayor Connely I understand that you are doing away with the 5-10-and 20 year raises. my question is What are you going to do to compensate the loyal police and fire officers who have worked for this city for over 10 years. We are the ones getting the shaft. It is great that you want to raise the pay for the new officers but are the older loyal officers who hold these departments together going to get the same dollar amount raise. Example if you raise the pay two thousand dollars are you going to raise the older ones, no I dont think so. The pay scale is so messed up right now I dont think it will ever be fair untill the whole city council and you are replaced.
Answer: I agree that only half the retention/recruitment problem is solved by raising the entry-level pay. A... Read Full Answer
