A defunct contracting business is being sued following the death of an infant in a Richmond swimming pool.
The lawsuit states that on July 21, 2016, Khalil Abdin, 2, drowned in a pool at 1094 Brandy Lane in Richmond.

According to Madison County Circuit Court records, Abdin’s parents have filed suit against Egglesden Construction LLC, alleging the company “constructed the deck surrounding said pool, creating an unreasonably dangerous condition.” The suit further alleges that contractors “failed to comply with applicable state and local building codes in construction of said deck.”

The company was dissolved in 2014, approximately two years before Abdin’s death, court records state. Chris Egglesden, of Waco, was listed as the process agent for the lawsuit, according to the complaint.

The plaintiffs are seeking recovery of damages for pain and suffering, destruction of power to earn money, and recovery of attorney fees. The case was filed last month.

The plaintiffs are represented by the Richmond law firm of Simons, Fore & Bowman.
