Maybe the Street Signs Had it Coming

BEREA - A San Diego man was arrested in Berea after police say he was intoxicated and disorderly in public.

According to police, the alleged incident occurred early Tuesday when Officers were called to the area of Maple Street in reference to possible gunshots. They located a male subject walking on Lester Street, and a vehicle parked nearby. The subject stated that the vehicle belonged to him. Inside of the vehicle they located handgun under the driver seat, along with two marijuana pipes. The subject also had a strong odor of alcohol and had been yelling and punching street signs. Officers arrested 27 year old Jonathan Kelley of San Diego CA and charged him with alcohol intoxication in a public place, drug paraphernalia possession, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and disorderly conduct 2nd degree.

Police have also worked other cases recently that allegedly involve alcohol intoxication.

On Feb. 10, police say officers were called to Advance Auto Parts in reference to a vehicle collision. One of the vehicles left the scene before they arrived. They were able to locate it several minutes later on Short Line Pike. The driver had a strong odor of alcohol and stated that he had been drinking that morning. Officers arrested 61 year old Clifford Lynn of Berea KY and charged him with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, and leaving the scene of an accident.

In other cases:

DUI Arrest: On 02/11/2016 Officers were called to Ellipse Street near Pirate Parkway for a motor vehicle collision. The driver stated that he struck a tree after losing control of his vehicle. He also stated that he had just dropped off his child at Berea Community School. The driver had a strong odor of alcohol and bloodshot eyes. Officers arrested 34 year old Benjamin West of Berea KY and charged him with operating a motor vehicle under the influence 1st offense and wanton endangerment 2nd degree.

Theft: On 02/13/2016 a resident in the 100 Block of Farris Street reported that items were stolen from his vehicle overnight. Estimated Loss: $700.00.

DUI Arrest: On 02/13/2016 Officers were called to Cooper Drive in reference to a disturbance. When they arrived they made contact with a subject sitting inside of a running vehicle. The subject had a strong odor of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet. Officers arrested 51 year old Douglas Abbott of Berea KY and charged him with operating a motor vehicle under the influence 1st offense.

Drug Arrest: On 02/13/2016 Officers were called to the 100 Block of Pennington Street in reference to a disturbance. Once on scene, they learned that 18 year old Brandon Hacker had assaulted a family member after smoking synthetic marijuana. He also provided it to two juveniles that were in the home. Hacker was arrested and charged with the following:
-Assault 4th degree
-Drug paraphernalia possession
-Possession of synthetic drugs
-Unlawful transaction with a minor 2nd degree
-Disorderly conduct 2nd degree

Criminal Mischief: On 02/14/2016 a resident in the 200 Block of Baldwin Street reported that a vehicle drove through her fence, then left the scene before Officers arrived.

Burglary: On 02/18/2016 a resident in the 100 Block of Joshua Circle reported that someone entered his home and took several items. Estimated Loss: $600.00.

Theft: On 02/20/2016 an employee at Circle K on Chestnut Street reported that two male subjects took food from the store without paying. Estimated Loss: $48.00.
Burglary: On 02/21/2016 a resident in the 200 Block of Christmas Ridge Road reported that several items were stolen from inside of their residence. Estimated Loss: $729.00.

Criminal Mischief: On 02/21/2016 a resident in the 100 Block of Phillips Street reported that several windows were broken out of his home and vehicle.
