More Candidate Filings for County Office

RICHMOND – More candidates have filed papers to run for offices in the Madison County government.

As of Friday, Bruce Begley filed to run for magistrate fourth district, the seat currently occupied by Bill Tudor, joining challenger Jack Marcum. Bill Tudor is retiring. Both candidates are Democrats. No Republican challengers have filed.

Meanwhile, Robert E. Murphy has filed for magistrate third district, the seat currently held by Harold K. Botner. Murphy is a Democrat, and no Republican has filed.

In the Madison County constable races, John Wright has filed for the fourth district, and former Madison County Sheriff's detective Bruce Thomas has filed for constable third district.

In the second district, Democrat Wayne S. Long filed papers to run for second district magistrate, the seat currently held by Roger Barger. In the first district, Larry Combs filed his papers Wednesday for another term as magistrate.

Marc Robbins filed for reelection for Madison County attorney, while William Edward Ackerman IV, filed for his first full term as Madison County Property Valuation Administrator. Ackerman was appointed to the position in January of last year after the retirement of Steve Smith.

There are currently no Republicans filed to run for any county office.
