RICHMOND - Suspects in a South Killarney Lane burglary made off with a lot of property - including the family dog.
On Tuesday, a resident of an apartment in the 100 block of S. Killarney Lane reported that her apartment had been unlawfully entered and a number of items stolen during the past week.
There were no signs of forced entry. The following items were reported missing: a Samsung 50” plasma television; a JVC mini-stereo system; a Dell desktop computer and monitor; a Canon printer; a Discovery Channel radio/CD player; approximately 125 DVD’s; and a female white teacup Chihuahua with light tan markings on her back. Estimated loss: $5,335.

Theft: On 10/28/2009, a complainant reported that she was visiting a residence on Parrish Avenue where she inadvertently left her purse and departed. Upon realizing her error, the victim returned to the residence only to find her purse missing. The purse contained the following items: a pink Polaroid digital camera; a blue Samsung cellular telephone; five 10K gold diamond rings; two cluster rings, one with two diamonds missing; a ring with praying hands; and a gold band. Estimated loss: $720.
Forgery Arrest: On 10/27/2009, police charged Donald A. Fitzpatrick, age 36, no address given, for forgery in connection with passing a forged check at Wade’s Pawn Shop.
On 09/05/2009, the owner of Wade’s Pawn reported that Fitzpatrick had cashed a check at the business in the amount of $385.00. The check was purported to be from a business in Lexington and it was made out to Fitzpatrick. The check was subsequently returned to Wade’s Pawn from the bank indicating that it was not drawn on a valid account.
A warrant for Fitzpatrick’s arrest was obtained on 09/09/2009, charging him with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree.
He was subsequently located in the MCDC, where he was being held on unrelated charges, and served with the warrant.
Counterfeit: On 10/28/2009, the manager of the Chevron station at 421 W. Main Street reported that a counterfeit $100.00 bill, bearing serial #DF00050852, had been passed at the store by an unknown customer.
Theft Arrest: On 10/29/2009, police arrested Misty L. Downey, age 29, Edwards Avenue, on theft related charges stemming from an investigation into the misappropriation of a vehicle.
On 10/09/2009, a complainant reported to RPD that he had loaned his vehicle to Downey for a short period of time to run an errand. After he allowed this, the victim realized that $170 had been taken from his wallet, allegedly by Downey. After Downey failed to return his vehicle in the allotted time, he contacted police. The vehicle was subsequently recovered the following day, parked behind the Madison County Library.
On 10/15/2009, an arrest warrant was obtained for Downey, charging her for Theft by Unlawful Taking and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
On 10/29/2009, officers encountered Downey at E. Main Street and Estill Avenue and took her into custody on the strength of the warrant. Downey was further charged for Tampering with Physical Evidence and Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree after she attempted to conceal a Valium pill, a Soma pill and two Neurontin pills in the back seat of the police cruiser.
She was lodged in the MCDC.
Arrest: On 10/29/2009, the Owsley County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jimmy A. Gibson, age 22, Booneville, KY, on theft charges based on a warrant issued following an RPD investigation into a shoplifting offense.
The arrest arose from an incident that occurred at Wal-mart in Richmond on 08/19/2009. A male, later identified as Gibson, stole a Vizio 32” LCD television from the store by taking it out through the garden entrance without paying. After the follow-up investigation identified Gibson as the suspect, a warrant for his arrest was obtained on 09/02/2009, charging him for Theft by Unlawful Taking.
Gibson was lodged in the Three Forks Detention Center in Beattyville, KY, pending a court appearance in Madison County.
