Committee reviews plan for Caudill Middle School
The city of Richmond Technical Advisory Committee reviewed a plan for the B. Michael Caudill Middle School Tuesday, clearing the way for the project to go to bid yesterday.
The school will be located next to Glenn Marshall Elementary near the Eastern Bypass. Representing the architecture and engineering firm of Clotfelter – Samokar, Michael Etapa said all of the infrastructure is in place for the school. The plan and award of the building contract is subject to the approval of the Madison County Board of Education, which meets Thursday.
The development plan is also subject to the approval of the Richmond Planning and Zoning Commission.
According to the plans presented Tuesday, the facility will include a baseball, softball and soccer field to be completed by Sept. of 2009, while substantial completion of the classrooms and labs are scheduled for July of 2009. See Bryan Marshall's 2-14-08 story describing the school in the Richmond Register
Other plans reviewed by the Technical Advisory Committee include:
* A site development plan for Maple Grove at Golden Leaf. The project is located on Pavillion Way north of Duncannon Ln. Zoned R-3, Planned Unit Development [P.U.D.], the project is for 128 units, located in 16 eight-plexes. The project is to be located on approximately 17 acres of land.
* A preliminary plat for TMW Construction – property at the Richmond Industrial Park South. A representative presenting the plan noted the plat calls for 13 lots on the nine-acre plot, which has recently been cleaned up. At one point, city official Joe Lillis questioned whether the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had declared the property clear of wastes, to which the project representative replied that he did not know. Officials said Madison County is considering purchasing six-tenths of an acre of the land for a facility that would be part of the county's communications network. The property will be zoned B-3 commercial, and is located just south of Pavillion Way and west of the CSX Railroad.
* Reviewed a concept plan for Pavillion at Golden Leaf Phase 2. The concept plan covers four lots totaling 55 acres: a 14-acre lot zoned R-2, P.U.D.; a 19-acre lot zoned R-3 P.U.D.; a 10-acre lot zoned R-1B P.U.D.; and another 10-acre lot zoned R-1B P.U.D. The property is located northeast of a future project – the Spangler Apartments, and east of the Breshear Farm.
* Amended final plat of Pavillion at Golden Leaf, located off Duncannon Ln. The 14-acre lot encompasses approximately 300 acres.
