Two Berea College Dorms Slated for Demolition

06.30.17 03:06 PM – Andy McDonald
Two Berea College dorms that were built in 1971 are slated for demolition.

Kettering Residence Hall and Danforth Residence Hall will be torn down as part of a plan to replace the aging structures. Neither facility meets current building codes, according to city officials, and updating them would be too costly.

Berea College is expected to submit building plans for two new dorms in July. Demolition of Danforth may begin as early as August, while similar work on Kettering may begin after the first of the year. Both facilities accommodated 150 student residents.

The two residence halls will be replaced with new three-story structures, said officials.
