Man Arrested in Connection With Stabbing

RICHMOND - Police have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing of a woman at a Richmond motel.

On Tuesday, police arrested Don Potter, Jr., age 29, Mt. Rushmore Drive, Richmond, in connection with the knife attack of a woman during the late afternoon hours of November 8, 2009, at the Quality Quarters Motel in Richmond.

The female victim was stabbed numerous times with a knife during the incident and remained hospitalized as of 11/11/2009.

Police had been attempting to locate Potter since the attack and this search was publicized in the media.

At approximately 2:30 P.M., 11/10/2009, Potter contacted police and surrendered himself to an officer in the 200 block of S. Second Street.

Potter was lodged in the MCDC, charged with the following offenses:

- Assault 1st Degree
- Tampering with Physical Evidence

The initial bond was set at $50,000.00 cash.

In other police news:

Burglary of Building: On 11/10/2009, a complainant reported that his self storage unit in the 200 block of Patsy Drive had been broken into and a number of items stolen. The victim reported that the theft occurred during the overnight hours and the lock was apparently cut to gain entry to the unit. The following items were reported stolen: Approximately 300 arrowheads; a New England Firearms .22 caliber handgun; an airless paint sprayer; and 12 Case XX knives. Estimated loss: $3780.00 (8013)

Theft from Vehicle: On 11/11/2009, a complainant reported that a substantial quantity of cash and gift cards were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at Mayfield Elementary School between 5:45 A.M. and 9:30 A.M. The victim reported that a Community Trust Bank money bag had been taken from the vehicle. The bag contained in excess of $2000.00 in cash and $550.00 worth of Wal-Mart gift cards. The victim reported that the vehicle was locked at the time of the theft. There were no signs of forced entry. Estimated loss: $2590.00 (8027)

Counterfeit: On 11/10/2009, employees at Frisch’s restaurant on N. Keeneland Drive reported that a counterfeit $10.00, bearing serial #H41178334B, had been passed at the restaurant by an unknown customer. (8021)
