Police: Cash, Gun Recovered With Arrest of Robbery Suspect
Leon Rozell Noland, Jr., 47, was arrested early Tuesday in connection with a bank robbery on Main Street in Richmond.

RICHMOND - Local police has arrested a man they say is responsible for the armed robbery of a Richmond bank.
Leon Rozell Noland, Jr, 47, was arrested by police early Tuesday.
The arrest stemmed from a Monday incident in which the Madison Bank, located at 201 W. Main Street, Richmond, was robbed at gunpoint by a black male suspect.
The suspect fled from the bank on foot and was later observed entering a car on nearby Water Street before fleeing the area. He was alone in the vehicle.
As the investigation into the incident progressed, Richmond Police received information from EKU Police regarding a person they were investigating on an unrelated offense that was similar in description to the suspect.
This led RPD investigators to Somerset where, in conjunction with the Somerset Police Department, the vehicle allegedly utilized in the bank robbery was discovered. However, the suspect was not found at that time.
At approximately 1:30 A.M., RPD Major Steve Gregg observed a male at Wal-Mart in Richmond that fit the description of the suspect. A police unit was summoned and stopped a Chevrolet Trailblazer being driven by the suspect in the area of Boggs Lane and the Eastern Bypass.
The suspect, identified as Leon Rozell Noland, Jr., age 47, Francis Street, Richmond, was taken into custody at that time and transported to the Richmond Police Department
It was subsequently determined that Noland had purchased the Chevrolet Trailblazer in Somerset a short time after the bank robbery in Richmond. He paid cash for the vehicle.
It was further learned that Noland was renting a motel room at The Country Hearth on the Eastern Bypass. RPD investigators executed a search warrant at the motel room and recovered the majority of the stolen money and a handgun. Including the cash paid for the above-mentioned Trailblazer, police recovered all but a few hundred dollars of the stolen cash.
Noland was lodged in the MCDC, charged with Robbery 1st Degree.
