Armed Robbery at Madison Bank
RICHMOND - Police are searching for a suspect after robbing Madison Bank this morning in Richmond.
According to police, the robbery occurred at 8:50 a.m. at the Madison Bank branch on Second and Main in downtown Richmond. A black male reportedly entered the bank, produced a handgun, then demanded money from the clerks.
Police said the robber was given an undetermined amount of money, then left the scene on foot.
"He fled out the front door and they don't know which way he went," said Sergeant Willard Reardon of the Richmond Police Department.
The suspect is described as a black male 6'0" to 6'2", medium to heavy build, wearing a fake beard, wearing a dark colored hoodie.
The investigation is ongoing, and police say the robbery has some similarities to an incident last week at a check cashing business in the Southern Hills Plaza. In that incident the suspect wearing a fake beard held up that establishment.
"The description was very similar," Reardon said.
