BEREA - An eleven-year-old male was arrested in connection with a burglary on Chestnut Street.

The arrest occurred on Sunday at approximately 6 a.m. when police were informed of a car burglary on Chestnut Street. Police said a purse was stolen in the incident, which contained a cell phone, digital camera and other items.

After police received information about the alleged theft, they went to the home of Russell G. Cates, 19, at 168 Morgan Street, and charged with him with receiving stolen property over $300, according to Captain Ken Clark.

The 11-year-old juvenile, who was also determined to be involved in the alleged incident, was also detained and charged with receiving stolen property over $300, police said.

The parents of the child could not be reached, so the child was turned over to the custody of an uncle, according to police.
