RICHMOND - A man was arrested late Monday after police say he rammed another vehicle in Richmond.

Police arrested Adam W. Morton, age 34, Adams Hill Lane, following an altercation in which he repeatedly rammed an occupied vehicle with his truck.

According to police, the incident occurred at 11:37 p.m. Monday when officers were dispatched to the Exxon Friendly Mart, 2121 Lexington Road, to investigate a report of a vehicle being rammed in the parking lot by another vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers observed a Hyundai sedan with severe damage to the front and rear of the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle advised officers that Morton was the driver of the vehicle that struck him and that Morton had fled the scene, police said.

The victim further reported that he and Morton had been involved in an earlier altercation in Lexington where they engaged in a fist fight.

Following the fight, the alleged victim told police he got on the interstate and was returning to Richmond with Morton following him. The complainant, who was accompanied by his father and a female, exited the interstate at Exit 95 and continued toward Richmond on U.S. 25.

Witnesses reported that Morton continued to follow the victim at which time the female, Kristen Morman, age 21, asked the victim to pull over so she could talk to Morton and ask him to quit following them.

When the victim stopped, Morman entered Morton’s pickup truck and the vehicle continued on U.S. 25 toward Richmond.

The victim began following Morton and reported that Morton suddenly stopped in the middle of the road and backed into the victim’s vehicle before continuing south on U.S. 25.

Both vehicles proceeded to the Exxon Friendly Mart where they stopped in the parking lot and the victim exited his vehicle. At that point, witnesses reported that Morton used his truck to ram the victim’s vehicle several times before fleeing the scene.

The victim’s father was in the vehicle at the time it was rammed but he was not injured. Officers located Morton’s vehicle at Tates Creek Road and Goggins Lane. Following an interview, Morton was charged for the following offenses in connection with the intentional ramming of the victim’s vehicle:

- Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
- Criminal Mischief 1st Degree
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident

The female, Morman, was charged for Public Intoxication. Both were lodged in the MCDC.
