Mayor, you have people one here asking you about the softball program and yet you say there is no intrest. Has the softball program already been look into then, is it a done deal?

No. There has been no final decision. However, the information that I have heard in the park committee briefings, as I remember it, is that use and interest, for what ever reason, is decreasing in the softball program.
Perhaps that conclusion is incorrect. Some comments on this forum indicate that interest may not be flagging but that the City softball program may be sub-par.
I suspect that Berea's approach to the park program will need to change in the future. The city will be asked to provide programs in addition to facilities. Until recently, the city has assumed that its job was to provide facilities and and that individuals would create the program. If the city does decide to provide more programs, it will also need to devise a strategic plan to anticipate the longterm needs and decide how best to focus tax dollars on this service.
These are big but important decisions.
