Question from Anonymous
I was reading a news article concerning West Nile Virus. What is the City doing to help prevent the mosquito’s population from growing in the City? Are you working with the Madison County Health Department to determine problem areas? Will the State be spraying to control mosquitoes in the City? If not, why aren’t we asking for help in controlling the mosquito’s population? Wasn’t this done in the past?
Steve Connelly answered:
The Codes Office is coordinating mosquito fogging with the Madison County Health Department. All Berea areas adjacent to streams have already been fogged once. Another fogging will occur soon on dates to be determined. The city will publish those dates if received in advance. The fogging takes place at night. Additional fogging can be scheduled as needed.
If areas have problems with mosquitoes and standing water, call the Codes office, 986-8528, and ask for tablets to be placed in the puddles to exterminate the larvae.
