Are the out of town venders and members of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen required to purchase a permit or business license to do business in Berea for only a couple of days? And if they do how much does it cost and how much income is derived from such fees?
Steve Connelly answered:
Chapter 60 of the Berea Code requires any person, corporation or business engaged in a profession, trade or business in Berea to pay an initial business license fee prior to doing business in Berea. That fee is usually $10 but certain occupations require a special fee. Itinerant merchants and peddlers must pay a fee of $10 per day or $25 per year. However, the city has not been collecting that fee from vendors and artists at the various fairs. That has been an oversight and should be corrected. Thank you for pointing that omission out.
