Mayor Connelly as an employee of the city ive always wondered why the city dosent offer direct deposit like other places. DOnt you think that it would be alot eaiser to just zap the money into an account that haveing to wait on the checks to go through 20 people before the employee gets them?

Steve Connelly answered:

It has been about five years since the city last considered direct deposit of pay checks. At that time, several employees had no bank accounts, few employees showed much an interest, and the city software program was not up to the task. An upgrade at that time would have been prohibitively expensive.

This year's budget has money to upgrade the city's financial software. If employees are interested, the city will reconsider the direct deposit option. I can confirm that the city administration would like to implement such a program.
